This year is our nation's 49 years of Independence. With the focus on the theme "I Am Singaporean", a stamp issue will be issued in the month of August for the celebration of Singapore's 49th birthday!

What makes us, us?

There are certain things that define and connect Singaporeans. Whether it's our love for acronyms, passion for food and shopping, or a sense of shared experience and commitment to the country, we know that there are strong ties that bind us to one another, and to our country.

Singapore will celebrate our 50th year of independence in 2015. To mark our Golden Jubilee, a series of three sets of commemorative stamps will be launched from 2013 to 2015. The first set of stamps with the theme "Our Journey Together" was launched in 2013. This second set of stamps "I AM SINGAPOREAN" celebrates 49 years of our independence by highlighting the unique traits and characteristics of Singaporeans and this island we call home.

This stamp issue will come in 15 stamps, very interestingly and creatively designed with the following themes:

I sland: Singapore, a sunny island well known for our tropical climate.

A croynms: We have a penchant for acronyms, perhaps because we are an efficient bunch!

M akan: Eating is our top national pastime, there's something to suit everyone's palette.

S ingapore Spirit: We are a nation known to always punch above our weight.

I nclusive: An opportunity to contribute to and share the fruits of the nation's success.

N ational Service: NS turns our ah boys to men.

G reat Singapore Sale: We are a bunch that loves shopping!

A rts and Culture: We are home to a myriad of arts and cultural events.

P ark Connector Network: An intricate network of green corridors and biking routes that we are proud of.

O rchid: Our national flower is hardy, resilient and able to bloom throughout the year.

R acial Harmony: We are a society that celebrates diversity, and yet is united in harmony.

E ducation: Providing equal opportunities for all: Every child has the opportunity to reach their full potential.

A irport: Changi Airport - An icon that makes us instantly recognisable to the world, and one that we are so proud of.

N ational Day Parade - An annual celebration where we don red and white and sing our national songs with pride and gusto!
