Overview
The General Assembly of the United Nations has on 21 December 1976, declared that 1979 be observed as the International Year of the Child. In Singapore, the event is celebrated by programmes and activities organised specially for the young.
To mark the "International Year of the Child '79", four postage stamps in the values of 10¢, 35¢, 50g and 75¢ and a miniature sheet of the stamps will be issued on 10 November 1979.
The set of stamps will feature children's paintings which depict activities and common-place Singapore scenes as seen through the eyes of a child.
The official logo of the International Year of the Child depicting two embracing figures to symbolize the relationship between the adult and the child will also be shown on the stamps.
