Overview
The Purple Parade is Singapore’s largest ground-up movement to raise awareness, foster inclusion and celebrate the abilities of persons with disabilities.
It is based on the belief that everyone, regardless of abilities, should have equal access to essential aspects of life such as education, employment, healthcare, transport and social participation.
Started in 2013, The Purple Parade has the support of individuals and organisations from the People, Public, and Private sectors of Singapore. The annual signature Parade event sees the participation of more than 10,000 individuals from more than 200 organisations. It covers five key elements: Campaign, Contingent, Concert, Carnival, and Conversations.
In between the annual signature events are other awareness and inclusion initiatives such as the human library and experiential learning journeys.
