Overview
In commemoration of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Singapore and the Maldives in 2025, SingPost and the Maldives Post have collaborated to release the Singapore-Maldives Joint Stamp Issue. This joint stamp issue celebrates the two island nations’ enduring friendship, shared maritime heritage and commitment to sustainability and conservation.
The stamp and miniature sheet designs feature Lazarus Island of Singapore and Hulhudhoo of the Maldives. Both islands are known for their serene beaches and clear, emerald-green waters and are popular spots for eco-tourism and marine-life watching. While Lazarus Island is popular with beachgoers and families who enjoy the clean white and sandy beach on the C-shaped lagoon, Hulhudhoo features unique characteristics including British-era infrastructure and a more temperate climate.
The vibrant and fragile marine life depicted in both stamps highlight the importance of environmental protection and conservation amidst global warming and rising sea-levels. Together, the stamps represent Singapore’s and Maldives’ joint commitment to preserve our natural and maritime heritage for future generations to enjoy.
