The Dragon is the fifth zodiac animal in the cycle featured in this series of stamps. The Year of the Dragon is said to be an auspicious year and everything will turn out wonderfully. The lucky Dragon is believed to be the guardian of wealth and power.

To celebrate this special year, where the year of the Dragon coincides with the new millennium, a limited quantity of a millennium collector's sheet with a $10 stamp printed in genuine 22-carat gold will also be released. It will be packaged in an uniquely designed hongbao and sold at its face value plus GST. The official millennium logo will be printed on this beautiful collector's sheet.

The fifth series of the mini stamp sheet of 18 stamps will be packaged with a complimentary souvenir card. The card in exactly the same size as the mini sheet, will be printed with the past four Zodiac animal stamps (Rat, Ox, Tiger and Rabbit), affixed with a pair of the Zodiac Dragon stamps and cancelled with the first day issue postmark, Chinese and English inscription of the "Year of the Dragon" printed on the selvedges and the color guides are in the shape of the Dragon.
