One of the finest and largest in South-East Asia, the Singapore International Airport at Paya Lebar was designed and built to the highest standard of the International Civil Aviation Organisation. The airport has a runway length of 3,392 metres and a further extension of 679 metres is expected to be completed in 1974. Among the existing facilities developed and expanded recently, was the extension of the Airport Terminal Building. With more international airlines planning to introduce scheduled flights to the Republic the importance of Singapore as a major air transport centre in South-East Asia and the Far East will be further enhanced. Besides SIA, the locally-based Singapore Airlines Ltd. - 27 other international airlines operate scheduled services through Singapore to most parts of the world.

The logos of these international airlines with that of SIA are being graphically depicted in the 10¢ stamp. The 35¢ stamp shows the logo of Singapore Airlines Ltd. (SIA) and the destinations to which the airline operates its international services. Featured in the 75¢ stamp is the logo of the Singapore Airlines Ltd. (SIA) on the stylised tail of one of its "Boeing" jets. The $1 stamp shows a number of SIA logos encircling the globe to signify the international flights of SIA.
