A hawker centre or food centre (MR FU or Shi in Chinese) refers to a collection of stalls selling different types of inexpensive cooked food, drinks and desserts. The stalls are housed in a covered, non-air-conditioned, open complex, and there is a common seating area for customers. Though hot and noisy, the quality and affordability of hawker food continue to draw the crowds, and with a reputation for eating as a national past time, it is a common sight to see Singaporeans queuing at their favourite hawker stalls across the island.

Interestingly depicted in this set of stamps shows the easily recognisable hawker centres found in Singapore. Perhaps you will be able to identify which are the hawker centres in the designs.
