Overview
This year Singapore will celebrate its 40th year of nation building. To commemorate Singapore's 40th birthday, more than 40 patchwork pieces from the Fabric of the Nation project have been specially selected and reproduced into 40 stamps for the stamp issue. The Fabric of the Nation is a visual reminder of the emotions and experiences of Singaporeans stitched and united in diversity as well as adversity. The Fabric of the Nation project is a partnership of Channel NewsAsia and the Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports.
The 40 different stamp designs are printed on two sheetlets of 20 1st Local stamps each. The sheetlets are available in gummed back and self-adhesives versions. Collectors can also pick up a unique Miniature sheet ($1) which features all the 40 patchwork stamp designs in one single stamp.
In addition, to commemorate 40 years of nation building, a special uncut Collectors' sheet printed with 4 miniature sheets is also available in a specially designed folder.
First day cancellation will be available only on 9 Aug 2005 at the selected post offices and SingPex 2005. A cachet featuring the NDP (National Day Parade) 2005 logo is also available on 9 Aug 2005. This NDP 05 logo will also be printed on all First Day Covers.
