Most Singaporeans today take radio and television for granted and cannot visualise a time when these media did not exist. But life was not all grey even for those who lived before the era of radio and television. The average man-in-the-street did not deny himself simple forms of relaxation after a hard day’s work, and one of his favourites was listening to storytellers spin their yarns in the evenings. Artistically illustrated in this stamp issue are the different popular early forms of street story telling in Singapore.
