Singapore and Pakistan share a friendly and sincere bilateral relationship. To mark the 50th anniversary of Singapore and Pakistan diplomatic ties, a joint-stamp issue depicting the National Flowers of both countries – Vanda Miss Joaquim for Singapore and Jasmine for Pakistan, is released.

Vanda Miss Joaquim is hardy and free flowering. Mr H N Ridley in 1893, named the plant after Agnes Joaquim. It was selected to be the National Flower of Singapore in 1981.

In Pakistan, Jasmine is a common plant and one can find it in most of the gardens because of its attractive smell. Therefore, Jasmine is named the National Flower of Pakistan.
