The much talked about Singapore Philatelic Museum will be officially opened on 19 Aug 95. Visitors will see for the first time a large and valuable collection of postage stamps and philatelic archival materials, which up to now, were stored in stamp vaults away from public view.

The Museum is established by the Telecommunication Authority of Singapore, the regulator of postal and telecommunication services in the Republic.

The Museum will serve as a focal point for all philatelic activities and a resource for the appreciation and study of philatelic heritage.

The Museum will feature permanent displays, temporary exhibits and activity areas located in five galleries, including two galleries based on themes.

Discovery Gallery -This Gallery will be packed with hands-on materials and intriguing interactive exhibits that will make visitors learn, discover and enjoy philately.

History Through Stamps Gallery - Visitors can take a journey back to the past and see important events in Singapore's national history unfold with the help of special optical effects, artefact displays, graphic reproductions of historical stamps and covers. Visitors will discover more about the history of postal services and key historical events through stamps.

Themes Galleries -The two Theme galleries host short to medium term exhibitions on particular themes as well as specially-produced audio visual presentations, demonstrations and philately-related activities.

Exhibition Gallery - Top-quality international stamp exhibits on loan from foreign and local collectors and overseas postal museums will be displayed at the Philatelic Exhibition Gallery.
