Overview
Songbirds - Nature's singing beauty
For a small island, with a high ratio of urban development, Singapore houses a surprisingly large variety of birds. Many interesting resident bird species survive in the few remaining green open spaces of this island.
This set of four stamps features four birds renowned for their songs which are becoming fairly rare in the wild. These stamps are printed by photogravure, a printing technique that enhances the subtle tones of the design. Colour dots are also specially printed in the shape of a bird.
The songbirds depicted in their natural habitats are: Lesser Green Leafbird (Chloropsis cyanopogon), Magpie Robin (Copsychus saularis), Straw-headed Bulbul (Pycnonotus zeylanicus) and Yellow-bellied Prinia (Prinia flaviventris).
Starting from the "Song Birds", the presentation packs will take on a slightly different look. The presentation folder will be enclosed in a transparent plastic cover instead of the usual envelope. This new presentation enhances the cover design of the folder and makes it more attractive for it to be kept as well as displayed.
