Overview
For a relatively small island, Singapore has a surprisingly high number species of native amphibians and reptiles.
Amphibians and reptiles fascinate yet frighten us. Many are habitat specific and live in rainforests, mangroves or coral reefs.
This set of four stamps depict the Green Turtle (No-Value Indicator), Green-Crested Lizard (60c), the Copper-Cheeked Frog (70c) and the Water Monitor ($1). Released with the stamps is a set of four maximum cards with complementary illustrations.
Sponsored by HSBC (formerly, HongkongBank) under its Care-for Nature (CFN) environment conservation and education programme, this issue marks the 9th in a series of CFN collector's covers and limited stamp print collections based on the nature theme that aims to raise awareness and appreciation of nature around us.
The stamps will be available in the usual first day covers and presentation packs as well as in the Care-for-Nature (CFN) covers and the exclusive limited print collection. The CFN covers can be purchased at all HSBC branches and at SingPost branches from 13 Oct 99 to 20 Dec 99. The limited stamp prints will be on sale at the Singapore Philatelic Bureau at Singapore Post Centre and at 11 HSBC branches. Proceeds from the sales of the CFN products will be donated to the CFN Trust Fund. This Trust provides funding in support of meaningful environmental conservation and education projects.
