A bigger and more execiting Singpex 94

Singpexes or the Singapore stamp exhibitions held annually in Singapore are getting bigger and more exciting each year. The Association of Singapore Philatelists together with the sponsor, Singapore Post, have planned for Singpex '94 to be a special event not just for collectors, but school children and the Singapore families as well.

Singpex '94 is a four-day exhibition to be held at the fourth level of the Raffles City Convention Centre from 31 Aug to 3 Sep 94. It coincides with the Stamp Collecting Week (29 Aug to 3 Sep 94). Reinforcing the stamp collecting idea, the theme for Singpex '94 is "Stamp Collecting is for the Family". Parents and children who visit Singpex '94 will be treated to entertaining activities like video show, quizzes and games at the Youth Corner. All these activities revolve around the great postage stamps. Not only will families have fun, they will learn more about Singapore and the world through postage stamps.

What can stamp collectors look forward to at Singpex '94? They will be delighted to know that Singpex '94 has the patronage of the prestigious Federation of Inter-Asian Philately (FIAP). 800 rare, competitive and Court of Honour exhibits including the SIAM Collection, await their scrutiny and careful study.

Also, the 175 Years of Modern Singapore stamps will be released on the opening of the exhibition. But more importantly, for the first time, a limited quantity of miniature sheets overprinted with the Singpex '94 logo will be sold with the Exhibition Catalogue at the exhibition venue and at the Singapore Philatelic Bureau ONLY.

Our young collectors will also find Singpex '94 an unforgettable event. A Youth Corner packed with interactive displays and prizes will keep them busy. Young school children accompanied by their teachers will be given special tours and free stamp kits. The all famous philatelic passport will allow visitors to complete a collection of stamps issued by participating postal administrations.

A record of more than 60 sales booths have been booked by postal administrations and dealers from all over the world. Singpex '94 will be a one-stop shopping for stamp collectors looking for great buys. They need not venture overseas to add to their collection.

Singapore Post will also have three stands, two for sale of philatelic items and one providing the full range of postal services. In addition, a datestamping counter will be set up for collectors of daily event cancellations.

So mark Singpex '94 in your diary. The exhibition is open daily from 11.30 am to 8 pm, and entrance is free to all.
