Overview
Our over 250,000 citizen-soldiers are now called Operationally Ready National Servicemen or NSmen for short. The new term replaces “reservists” to better reflect the role of our NSmen as fully trained and highly skilled who are operationally ready 24 hours a day.
1994 marks 25 years of operationally ready national service and contribution by our NSmen. To commemorate this occasion, a stamp issue has been planned for. To be released tentatively on Singapore Armed Forces Day, 1 Jul 94, the stamps will reflect the contributions made by the NSmen to the defence as well as the peace and prosperity of Singapore.
The stamps will as usual be sold with matching designed first day covers and presentation packs.
