This stamp issue is released to celebrate and commemorate the anniversaries of Girl Guides Singapore, Outward Bound Singapore and Lion Clubs International, it is also to appreciate their positive contribution to the communities.

Girl Guides Singapore

In 2017, Girl Guides Singapore (GGS) celebrates 100 years of Guiding in developing girls and young women into women of courage, confidence and character.

Girl Guiding was introduced to Singapore in 1917 after Lord Baden Powell founded Scouting and Guiding in the United Kingdom in 1910. Today, GGS is the largest co-curricular activities group for girls in Singapore with focus on the unique 5-Point Programme of Self and Social, Home, Outdoor, Community and International. Guiding teaches leadership, promotes resourcefulness, builds resilience and supports cultural diversity in today's world, for today's girls.

Outward Bound Singapore

Outward Bound Singapore (OBS) is the pionner and leader in outdoor education in Singapore, providing adventure-based experiential learning to develop rugged and resilient youths. OBS is part of the National Youth Council, which drives holistic youth development and outreach initiatives to young Singaporeans and youth sector organisations. Founded in 1967, OBS will be commemorating 50 years of Adventure and Learning.

Lions Clubs International

Lions Clubs International is the largest service club organisation in the world. There are 1.4 million members in more than 46,000 clubs, serving communities in more than 200 countries and geographical areas around the globe. Founded in 1917, Lions Club International's motto is "We Serve". Lions clubs aid the blind and visually impaired, champion youth initiatives, help the needy seniors, care for the environment, provide disaster relief and strengthen local communities through hands-on service and humanitarian projects. In Singapore, Lions established and support the Lions Home For The Elders, The Lions Befrienders Service Association, The Lions Community Service Foundation and The Lions SaveSight Centre.
