Overview
On 4 August 1983, a set of three stamps and a miniature sheet will be issued to mark Singapore's participation in the Bangkok International Stamp Exhibition 1983, BANGKOK 1983, as the exhibition is otherwise called, will be held from 4 to 13 August 1983 in Bangkok, Thailand. The exhibition is being organised by the Communications Authority of Thailand in collaboration with the Philatelists' Association of Thailand to celebrate the centennial of the Thai postal services and the first issue of Thai postage stamps. It is also the first international stamp exhibition to be held in an Asean country.
Singapore's participation in the exhibition is in the spirit of ASEAN cooperation and goodwill and this is being reflected in the stamp-on-stamp motif which has been adopted by the stamp designers Sylvia Tan and Ko Hul-Huy.
