Overview
On 21 Feb 2008, Singapore celebrated with fanfare when the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in Lausanne, Switzerland, announced its decision to hold the inaugural Youth Olympic Games (YOG) in 2010 in Singapore. Since then, intense works has been carried out by the Singapore Youth Olympic Games Organising Committee (SYOGOC) to ensure that preparations of Singapore 2010 are well on track. Significant progress has been made in the development of an integrated sport, culture and education programme.
To commemorate the official countdown to this international multi-sport event on 14 Aug 2009, this set of stamps portrays the warm welcome from the host city ($1.10), and how Singapore 2010 aims to inspire youth to embrace, embody and express the Olympic values of Excellence (1st Local), Friendship (65c) and Respect ($2.00).
