Singapore Post Centre (SPC) will be officially opened by the Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Mr Yeo Cheow Tong on 8 Mar 2000.

In conjunction with SPC's official opening, a set of four stamps and miniature sheet featuring the past and present postal headquarters of Singapore will be released. The four stamps depict the first mail office by the side of the Singapore River, the GPO building at site of former Fort Fullerton, Fullerton Building and recently completed SPC.

Incorporated in the stamp designs are the postmarks reflecting the respective periods of the postal building. The miniature sheet incorporates the four stamps with a background of the 19th century colour lithograph of the former Government Hill and the flagstaff. The flying of the flag used to signal the arrival of a ship with mail in those early days.

For the first time, a prestige stamp booklet is produced incorporating two mixed panes of the "Postal Landmark" stamps and nine pages of text and pictures. The stamp booklet offers a glimpse of the history and development of postal services in Singapore through the decades. The 12 stamps in the book will be presented in a different format from the stamp sheets and have a combined face value of $10.08. Each prestige stamp booklet will be available at $10.50 (inclusive of GST). The booklets are available through special orders (form enclosed with this bulletin) and at all SingPost main branches from the first day of issue, whilst stocks last!
