Singapore-Philippines Joint Stamp Issue

Overview

On 28 Aug 2009, the stamp issue - Bridges, featuring the Henderson Waves, Alexandra Arch and Cavenagh Bridge from Singapore; Bamban Bridge and Marcelo Fernan Bridge from the Philippines, was released to celebrate the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Singapore and Philippines.

Hand drawn by the Filipina artist, Victorino Z. Serevo, the illustration encapsulates the classical feel of the older bridges as well as the modern structures of the newer bridges.

The official stamp launch, held at the Pod in the National Library Building, was witnessed by representatives from the Philippines, including the Ambassador, Her Excellency Ms Minda Calaguian-Cruz, Mr Leong Keng Thai, Deputy Chief Executive and Director-General (Telecoms & Post) from Infocomm Development Authority (IDA), who did the honors of officially launching the stamps, as well as officials of Singapore Post and invited guests.

Ambassador of The Philippines, Her Excellency Ms Minda Calaguian-Cruz, and Mr Leong Keng Thai, Deputy Chief Executive and Director-General (Telecoms & Post) from Infocomm Development Authority (IDA) officiated the stamp launch.
