The Singapore River has undergone dramatic transformation since its early days. Before, the Singapore River was filled with lighters and stevedores and bustling with trade activities. With rapid economic development and urban renewal, this way of life has disappeared. Today, the waterway is a major leisure and tourist attraction with shaded walkways, art venues, alfresco dining, entertainment and retail shophouses.
