Transportation Definitives - Low & High Values

Overview

The current Corals & Reef Life Definitives launched in 1994, will be replaced by a new series bearing the theme of Land Transportation. The new low value definitives will be released in March 97 and the new high value definitives will be released in April 97.

The new Land Transport definitives feature a collection of the common means of transport in Singapore from the 19th Century to the present.

Two miniature sheets are also released together with the definitive issues.

The stamps feature nine types of land transportation used in yesteryears, a few of which can still be seen on the roads today.

The stamps come in various formats, in gummed-backs, in peel & stick stamp booklets and peel & stick of 20 stamps per sheet.

The designs includes the functional Bullock carts, the trusty Bicycle, the traditional Jinrickshaw, the rapid transport of the 18th Century - Electric Tram, the Trolley Bus, the vanishing Trishaw, the Vintage Car, a dignified Horse-drawn Carriage and lastly, the good old Fire Engine. The stamps comes in various denominations : 5c, 20c, NVI, 30c, 35c, 40c, 50c, 60c and 70c.
