100 FIFA Years - For the Good of the Game

Overview

FIFA was founded on 21 May 1904, with the basic aim of organising championship matches between professional teams of different nations.

FIFA's role as an international governing body has evolved and expanded over the years. Today, it is recognised by the football community as the international federation responsible for the organisation and promotion of football worldwide.

To commemorate FIFA's 100th anniversary, a set of stamps was released on 21 May 2004. The stamps feature the football field, soccer ball, football jersey and world map, symbolising a world bound by football.

For this issue, the stamps are enhanced by special printing techniques, flockage and embossing. This is the first time both techniques are used together on Singapore stamps.
