The Commonwealth is an association of countries once linked together as part of the British Empire. Commonwealth Day is celebrated annually on the second Monday in March. It is a day for all, especially children to appreciate the richness and diversity of culture, religion, language within countries of the Commonwealth.

A set of four stamps is released on this special day which falls on 12 Mar 2001 (Monday) to commemorate the 25th Anniversary of Commonwealth Day. The stamps reflect the themes of Co-operation, Education, Sports and Arts & Culture. The Commonwealth emblem is incorporated in all the four stamps.
