Overview

Opening in November 2015, National Gallery Singapore is a brand new visual arts museum that engages, excites and inspires with the art of Singapore, Southeast Asia and the world. The Gallery will contribute to Singapore’s ambition to become a global city for the arts.

Located in the heart of the Civic District, two monumental buildings - the City Hall and the former Supreme Court - have been refurbished and will be reborn as National Gallery Singapore. The Gallery will focus on displaying Singapore and Southeast Asian art from the 19th century to the present day. Through a comprehensive collection, the Gallery will present the development of Singapore and regional cultures to tell their social, economic and political histories.

This stamp issue will feature four of the master pieces displayed in the National Gallery Singapore. The four master pieces are National Language Class by Chua Mia Tee, Wounded Lion by Raden Saleh, Drying Salted Fish by Cheong Soo Pieng and Pagodas II ( Pago-Pago Series ) by Lati Mohidin.
