The National Monuments stamp issue showcases five iconic Singaporean buildings, which are an important part of Singapore’s history and architectural heritage:

The Neo-Palladian Former Parliament House and Annex Building which stands prominently along the Singapore River;

The awe-inspiring Neoclassical Former Supreme Court with its Corinthian columns overlooking the Padang; The Neo-Palladian National Museum of Singapore which has been documenting the nation’s history from British colonial times to independence;

The Former Hill Street Police Station – once the largest police building in all of Malaya and an unmistakable landmark in Singapore’s cityscape; and

The Edwardian-style Central Fire Station, a living witness to Singapore’s firefighting history and a monument for our firefighters.

These monuments bear their own unique witness to Singapore’s journey from colonial rule to independent republic and are some of our nation’s most beautiful structure.
