Overview
The fifth issue of the Singapore '95 Orchids Series will be released on 15 Mar 95. The stamps and miniature sheets in this series are released in conjunction with Singapore '95 - the first World Stamp Exhibition to be held in Singapore in 1995. Proceeds from the sales of this series will be used to fund the mega-event that can be compared to the Olympics of the stamp collecting world.
Two orchids, the attractive Vanda Marlie Dolera and the handsome Vanda limbata, are featured in this issue. The Vanda Marlie Dolera is a great grand-child of the National Flower of Singapore, Vanda Miss Joaquim. It is one of the best vandas for landscaping. The Vanda limbata is a native of the Island of Komodo in Indonesia, home of the Kodomo Dragon, a lizard.
The miniature sheet design is an illustrated impression of the popular Singapore Zoological Gardens, often referred to as one of the loveliest zoos in the world. The design captures the hallmark of the zoo, its open-plan concept showcasing animals in its natural setting.
Designs for first day covers and presentation packs complement the previous sets in this series.
Look out for this issue to complete your collection.
