On 1 Jul 99, Singapore and Hong Kong will jointly release a set of six stamps on Tourism. The stamps feature three scenes of Singapore and Hong Kong, respectively.

The stamps depict the Hong Kong Harbour (For Local Addresses Only), the Giant Buddha (Tian Tan) (50c) and Hong Kong Street Scene (70c) as well as the Skyline of Singapore (35c), The Merlion at Sentosa (60c) and the Bugis Junction ($1).

The stamps are designed by a Hong Kong designer, Mr Arde Lam, while the miniature sheet is designed by a Singapore designer Mr Willie Chan.

The stamps are printed in sheets of 20 by hexachrome printing. Hexachrome printing is an improved printing method which uses a six-colour printing process by adding green and orange to the original four colours in offset printing. This provides for a larger spectrum of colours and brings more brilliance to the psychedelic designs on the stamps. A miniature sheet will also be released with the issue.

Collectors can look forward to the commemorative cover for this issue - a special memento affirming the long lasting co-operation of the two vibrant countries. The cover has a complete set of stamps from Singapore and Hong Kong, cancelled with the respective countries' postmarks and complete with the signatures of the Hong Kong and Singapore designers. First day covers and presentation packs are also available to complete this unique collection.

In conjunction with the issue, there will be a joint Singapore-Hong Kong stamp exhibition to be held at Bugis Junction from 1 - 4 Jul 99. This exhibition is organised by Kreta Ayer Stamp Society. Both countries will take up sales booths at this exhibition along with a number of collectibles dealers. There will also be exhibits of Singapore and Hong Kong stamps at the exhibition. An exhibition will be held in Hong Kong's City Plaza on 1 July 99.
