Overview
The introduction of the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) system was pivotal in Singapore's nation building journey. This stamp series celebrated the launch of a world-class public transport system that connected the island and its people like never before, laying the groundwork for a more accessible and efficient city.
Two more stamp series – North East Line, the new fully underground line, and the SMRT Circle Line, which further enhanced connectivity and made the city more accessible for everyone, were released on 18 July 2003 and 28 May 2009, respectively, to mark the launch of the new MRT systems.
