Overview
A special stamp issue will be released on 7 July 1998 in conjunction with the launch of the National Education Exhibition (NEE). The exhibition will be a month-long exhibition organized by the Ministry of Information and the Arts at the SUNTEC International Convention and Exhibition Centre.
The set of four stamps represents key moments of Singapore's history from mid 1950s to the present day. It depicts scenes of the turbulent years of political uncertainty, the joy of early nationhood with its first elected government, the hope for merger with Malaysia and finally the celebration of independence, peace and prosperity of a multi-racial country.
Complementing the national education program, this set of stamps aims to help increase the public awareness of Singapore's history and seeks to kindle the interest of our younger generation to appreciate the nation's past.
