For the first time ever, Singapore honours one of its artists, the late Chen Wen Hsi, with a Meritorious Service Medal. Chen Wen Hsi, a pioneer artist of outstanding talent, had made impressive contributions to the development of visual arts in Singapore, his adopted home.

The Annual Meetings of the Board of Governors of the International Monetary Fund [IMF] and the World Bank Group will be held in Singapore in September 2006. This is of significance for Asia as it will be the first Annual Meetings in the region since 1997. It is also part of Singapore 2006, which is a series of large-scale international events including the Singapore Biennale to be held in the course of September 2006.

The stamps honour PUB, which has played a vital role in Singapore's nation building and provided the nation with critical resources – water, gas, and electricity. The most diverse and captivating fauna of the world's largest ecosystem will take centrestage in Singapore's stamp scene on 19 Jul 95 - MARINE FISH. Designed by stamp designer Sylvia Tan, these colourful stamps rendered by colour pencil will be the fifth issue sponsored by Hongkong Bank as part of its Care-for-Nature (CFN) environment conservation and education programme.
