The roots of Lee Kong Chian Natural History Museum go back to the “Singapore Institution” envisioned by Sir Stamford Raes in 1823. The youth festival has evolved alongside Singapore’s development. Beginning in 1966 and formally launched on 18 July 1967 by the first President of Singapore, Mr Yusof Ishak, the purpose of the festival was to create a national identity and nurture the talents of our youth from different ethnic groups.

The Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games) once again return to Singapore in 2015, after a 22-year long hiatus. The 28th SEA Games will be held from 5 -16 June 2015, with Singapore Sports Hub as the main venue for the Games. Organised by the Singapore Southeast Asian Games Organising Committee (SINGSOC), the Games is held in conjunction with Singapore’s 50th anniversary and will host more than 7,000 athletes and ocials from 36 sports. Adopting the theme of Celebrate the Extraordinary, the Games is about connecting individuals, communities and countries to their dreams. It’s beyond competing, winning or even overcoming defeat. So that ultimately, we all realise that success comes to ordinary people with extraordinary dreams.
