Protect Our Environment

Issue date 13 Sept 1997

Overview

Singapore has achieved rapid economic growth with her urbanisation and industrialisation programmes. However, the economy is built with protecting and improving Singapore's environment in mind.

The set of four stamps will be released in conjunction with the 25th anniversary of Ministry of the Environment.

Sponsored by HongkongBank under its Care-for-Nature environment conservation and education programme, this year's "Protect Our Environment" stamp release marks the seventh in a series of Care-for-Nature collector's covers and limited stamp print collections based on the nature theme that aims to raise awareness and appreciation of nature around us. Proceeds from the sale of the stamp series are donated to the Care-for-Nature Trust Fund, which provides additional funding in support of meaningful environmental conservation and education projects.

The HongkongBank Care-for-Nature Programme was launched in 1989 as a long term environmental conservation and education project. Through this programme, HongkongBank is committed to conserving and protecting the living resources in our natural environment and at the same time to generate awareness among the public to do likewise.
